ICEBOXX

Born  Iliang Miracle Etowa. IceBoxx is a 20 year old rapper, songwriter and performer from Abi LGA of Cross River state. This emerging talent has wooed many audiences around Nigeria with his unique rap style and charm on stage.

 From winning MI’s freestyle competition at the Calabar Festival in 2010, to Peak talent hunt in 2011 where he was a regional finalist, to the Sprite Triple slam competition where he astonished the crowd with a rap acapella, and was described by Eldee tha Don as the next big thing in rap, from this part of the country.

Now signed on to JunkHouse Entertainment, one of the leadingrecord labels located in the southern part of Nigeria.  IceBoxx is set to take on the world and bring a fresh vibe to rap music as we know it.

He armed with a video, four (4) official singles; “Calabar Swag, Beautiful Life, Willi Willi and She wanna Rock” currently enjoying massive rotation on radio stations. Plus a remix of Calabar Swagfeaturing; Lagos based talented rapper EFA and Dancehall Spartan SpyDaMan.

Iceboxx’s style is equaled to none and is undoubtedly a kid with a bright future. Watch out for this dude!

   

Teego
 

‘Shordy you Know no, say You dey ma mind, if you cross the Line ama give it to you’ Familiar lines, right? This guy is a bunch of talent, a singer, Disc Jockey, and a producer. Teego hails from Cross River state and has virtually produced for every artiste in Cross River, Uyo and PortHarcourt. The 22 Years old singer has so many popular singles to his credit. Hits like Shordy, She talk Say, I believe, Jolificate and so forth are all from this talented dude. The list is endless. He has got a crazy nice soothing voice, very well laced  on a nice beat. His Latest single  YAKATA YOKOTO is currently climbing charts all over the country. The dude is good, no other words to describe him. If I’ve got a label, I won’t think twice before I place my money on him.

 

Realpee

 

Pius Ushie Ajaba (aka) REAL PEE AJABA is undoubtly a name to reckon with in the Calabar music circle. If you are a lover of good music and meaningful lyrics, then you should know Realpee. A protege of the African queen crooner, Tuface, and many has confused his voice with that of 2face Idibia. Realpee has for sure made his mark in the Calabar music scene with his much talked about Imperfect Me album launch of which could boast of the rave of the moment, Kcee, Faze, Mode9, Kas beats and many other dignitaries. His singles are still tops on chats and definitely the rave of the moment.     

 

TShawn

‘Kpom mkpo ado’ Yes, that is what comes to our mind whenever the name is mentioned. Born Umo, Okpo and kicked off his musical career in 2006. TShawnis a Rapper, Singer, Songwriter, entertainer pas Excellence and in his own words ‘Not your average Calabar boy’ has over the years of passionately following music developed a brand that is not only unique and fun but high in artistic display. After putting his pursuit of a music career on hold in 2008 to focus on his academics, TShawn is now a graduate of the University of Calabar from the department of Marketing and has emerged from those years with a smooth and mature personality, high fashion sense and big dreams. If the above mentioned qualities fail at being unique selling points, then the confidence and rhythm style with which he delivers his music and his defining lyrics will do. Currently on his Video project of which is already making a lot of media buzz in the entertainment circle. He is presently an A List artiste as far as Entertainment in Calabar &  its environs is concerned.   

Tossy Young

Just when the lovers of reggae/raga music thought that reggae is gone, another reggae Minstrel was brought to the foreground. His name is Tossy young, born Bright  Kenedy. Tossy young is definitely a big name to reckon with in the naija reggae music circle. The reggae artiste started his music career professionally  as far back as 2007, and since then had never relented in dishing out good reggae tunes for his ever growing fan base all over the continent. His most popular work so far is Denge Pose, which held all music lovers spellbound and was a radio rave at the time of its release. His latest single, titled ROLL YOUR BOAT is currently gaining massive airplay all over the country. Tossy Young is also a Vibrant and energetic performer, having shared stages with naija’s very best artistes like, Flavour, Psquare, Wizkid,  is recently ranked Tops with the likes of Burnaboy and General Pype in the SouthSouth music Top A’ List. 

e-BAZE

Victor Egbe aka e-Baze is a multi- talented singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and music producer, from Abi LGA of Cross River state. He’s a graduate of Accounting from the University of Calabar. e-Baze started producing and voicing radio jingles in 2006, and is notorious for his earwarming vocals and melodious beats.

His music production history spans several contemporary music genres including Pop, Afro, dancehall to Hip Hop, and is characterized by funky basslines and heavy synths. e-Baze, has produced for a wide range of artistes and is one of the most sought after beatmakers in the South South region of Nigeria, and heads the JunkHouse Music Production Team.

He’s armed with the single “Trowey which features IceBoxx which is enjoying massive airplay and rotation. Plus a hot new dance tune “HanLele” which would be release before the end of September.

GYC

GYC is a 25 year old music producer, songwriter, R&B/Pop Artist. GYC grew up listening to a diverse range of music. This helped influence his music and style of production.

He own a musical outfit Reap Zone. His unique style and charm caught the attention of the Executives of Junkhouse Entertainment and was eventually signed up. He’s now a member of the JunkHouse Music production team headed by e-Baze. Both of them are responsible for all the hits churned out from JunkHouse studio.

He has performed severally at the Annual Calabar Festival. Also has a video, plus two singles (2), “Shiege and KaduGole” enjoying massive rotation on radio. Plus a new single titled “Paroll” set to be released this month.

GYC is the new kid on the block; and with the support of JunkHouse Inc, he’ll surely be unstoppable.

  

 Patreal

Many of you will vehemently agree with me on patreal making this list. With his maiden album IMA ABASI released as far back as 1999. He never stopped there, he Joined a contemporary musical group in the University of Calabar named RXG with the likes of Xavier and Greal. His musical career however took another dimension when he went solo in 2008 with a massive street credibility of his two singles then, STANDING and BURNING IN LOVE under RealGeez entertainment. In 2010, the young man came up with yet another hit Emum Isong, produced by the  FUTURE. The single went viral and later took over the streets from 2012 till date. Box411 however, got a hint on his yet to be released new single NSAK produced by PATPEAZ. He is definitely a top shot in the Calabar entertainment industry, with John Erik managing the RealGeez Entertainment crew. Anticipate more from this young man, he definitely got TALENT.

REX

Rex kicked off his musical career in 2013 and professionally in 2010 when he recorded his first single TIMBO, this was just a stint that earned him a remarkable deal of encouragement and recognition, REX  got into the studio, upgraded in his skill and pushed JEJE and Delay, and now is back with Bad Girls+ TATASHI  which are enjoying massive rotations on radio airwaves. REX has carved a niche for himself in the music industry with his unique Hip Hop style and distinct voice and dance style. He definitely deserves a spot here after successfully working with some top artistes in the music industry such as Kcee,Davido,Teego,Slimjoe,Sways (South African).

Janeykrest
   
Janeykrest(Born JANEFRANCIS CHINEMEREM AMADI) is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and a reggae artiste, Known for her English/Igbo lyrics, androgynous appearance and stage swag.
Janeykrest also known as Chika is one of Nigerian finest female rap artiste associated with Afrobeat. Janeykrest who has performed in the African biggest street party popularly known as CARNIVAL CALABAR and other shows within and outside the Country, has also participated in so many singing and rap contests in Nigeria, including: RSSDA, ONE MIC, LOUD IN KAS, organized by river state entertainment in which she emerged the winner.
Still as an undergraduate in the University of Calabar she participated in rap contests & Tv Reality shows like SPRITE TRIPLE SLAM 2011, which she emerged the 1st runner, LUCOZADE BOOST REALITY SHOW 2011, NIGERIAN IDOL & PEAK TALENT show were she attained the national final level in each contest.
She went as far as Being on a Hit single “DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY” with ACE comedian KLINT DA DRUNK. She has her latest single titled TOTORI gaining tops on chats nationwide. I will simply refer her as the queen of the South Rap.

Silver
Silver,aka International Boy, is a singer, music writer, and music Producer. His works so far are simply thrilling. He is armed with two heavy singles ‘Party Hard + Kido Dance’ that are enjoying heavy radio rotations and club banging. His track records spans through the south south region of Nigeria, having previously worked with heavy  weights in the industry like Burna Boy, leriq, and 2Solo of Dem Mama records but to mention a few, he definitely has carved a place for himself in the music circles. His style of music is definitely unequalled in calabar. Heading the Production Team of Clicktunez music as a producer and an artiste, Silver surely deserves a spot in Calabar’s  Top 15. 

Shadow

Popularly  known as Mr. Shadow , born Patrick Effiom, a graduate of Radiography, University of Calabar, Calabar. His musical career kicked off as far back as 1999 and professionally in 2005 when he released his first album 'GRATITUDE', and currently another album titled 'OLUWA IS INVOLVED'. Mr Shadow creatively blends in the entertainment circle as an A list artiste and one of the Finest most Sought Producers in this part of the world. His pedigree spans through a list of Top keenly contested music competitions of which he came tops, these include Star Road Quest - 2003,  Calabar Art Festival - 2004, Glo Rock n Roll - 2005 and 2006, Battle for Stardom - 2006, and Siomkpo talent hunt - 2008. Take me as a brother, his first official single was produced by the veteran producer OJB Jjezreal, His Prolixity has seen him him perform with the lkes of kcee Presh, banky w, Jmartins, FAZE, Duncan Mighty, Timaya, Mode9 and loads of top rated artistes. His musical collabos nclude that with OJB Jezreal, FAZE,RealPee, Teego, UpperX and many more. His latest single IJEBU GARRI which features Mr Prolific himself, kandyB is spearing through the airwaves.
 
 

CherryHug

Bold and Sexy! RealGeez First lady. Born Ruth Hogan,in present day Cross River state. Cherry Hug brought a different dimension into the Calabar Music Scene with her Frst official single READY produced by the Supa Dupa TEEGO. Still an undergraduate in the department of Mass communication, Cross River State University of Technology and referred to by many as Naija’s  Beyonce as the strength and energy in her lines delivery and performance is highly applauded by many music lovers across the south of the Niger. Presently working under the umbrella of RealGeez Entertainment, hitting the airwaves with her smashing hit single titled READY. Cherry Hug is for sure one of the few female artistes to watch out for from our entertainment axis. She definitely ROCKS!
